Lathing — is thin wooden panels used for interior and exterior finishing of walls, ceilings and facades of buildings.
The main material for the production of lining is coniferous or deciduous wood.
This material is widely used in construction for cladding houses, baths, balconies and other premises, due to its functionality and attractive appearance.
The process of manufacturing wooden lining begins with the preparation of raw materials. For this, high-quality coniferous or deciduous logs are selected, which are cleared of bark and sawn into boards. Then the wood is dried in special chambers.
After drying, the boards are sent to machines where they are given the desired shape. Special profiling machines are used that cut out tongue and groove for convenient connection of the panels to each other.
The final stage includes grinding and sorting of finished products. Depending on the quality of the surface, the lining is divided into categories (A, B, C). High-quality panels can be additionally treated with antiseptics or varnishes to increase service life and protect against moisture, mold and pests.
Traditional wooden panels with straight edges and a simple tongue and groove system for joining. This type of paneling is often used for interior decoration, creating smooth and neat surfaces.
An improved version of the classic lining with a deeper tongue and groove and an enlarged ventilation groove on the back. This ensures better ventilation and prevents condensation. Euro lining meets strict European standards and is often used for finishing both inside and outside buildings.
This is a lining that imitates the surface of a rounded log. The panels have a rounded front side, which makes them a popular solution for creating the effect of a wooden log house. Blockhouse is used for the external cladding of houses and baths, giving them the appearance of a log building.
A decorative type of lining with a carved profile that adds depth and elegance to the finish. It is used for interior decoration, giving the interior a special style.
A lining that imitates façade boards. Its panels are beveled at an angle, which gives the walls the appearance of classic American paneling. This type of lining is often used for exterior decoration of houses.
Lining is perfect for interior and exterior cladding of a house, cottage, bathhouse or sauna. It is a favorite material of builders: it does not require preparatory work (no need to plaster, putty, level the surfaces), it is unpretentious, environmentally friendly, effectively creates a cozy and comfortable atmosphere.
If we are talking about protecting the lining, then use fire retardants, antiseptics, stain, drying oil, varnish or wax, depending on the purpose. As for decorative finishing, it is better to use acrylic and oil paints, acrylic aqual varnish , decorative glaze or opaque enamel.
It is not recommended to wet the lining. Dust is removed with a dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner. If stains appear, they can be treated with a weak solvent. Periodically, the lining should be treated with protective compounds - antiseptics and fire retardants.
For example, if you want to add a decorative touch to your home's interior, then coniferous wood panels are ideal. However, if you want to cover the walls of your bathroom, then pay attention to oak panels.
When choosing lumber for a sauna steam room, alder and cedar panels are excellent choices. These materials release useful elements when heated, and their ability to withstand high temperatures and humidity is excellent.
When it comes to external walls, the type of wood does not matter much; what is important is that it is treated with a fire- and water-resistant coating. For internal finishing, however, special attention should be paid to the fact that all panels match in color.
Class C lining suited us for the attic. It is not ideal, but it was not required. The main thing is the price and the ability to quickly finish the finishing. As a result, the attic became more comfortable, and we saved money!
I ordered class B lining for the garage. Yes, there are some minor defects, but for such a price it is quite normal. I installed it myself, and there were no problems. A good option for a budget renovation!
I chose class A lining for interior decoration. I am very pleased! It is easy to lay and looks stylish. A few knots, but they only add naturalness. We now have a very warm and beautiful interior.
I bought extra class lining for finishing my dacha. The quality is simply amazing! No knots or defects, and the smell of wood fills the house with coziness. I recommend it to everyone!
